PT-30
PT-30 Lightweight Sampling Drilling Rig (30 m)
Two-person sampling rig: 90 kg including the petrol engine, 30 m in 46.5 – 91 mm holes. Strips into frame, head and engine for carrying on foot or by animal.
A portable core drilling rig is a diamond coring machine light enough to be moved without a truck-mounted carrier — split into modules two people can carry, or skid-mounted for a pickup, an animal or a helicopter. We build five of them, from the 90 kg PT-30 to the 300 m XY-2PC.
Portability is not a marketing word — it is three measurable things. If any one of them fails, the rig stays at the bottom of the track.
Total weight means little if the frame cannot be lifted. We quote the weight of the heaviest module, because that is what two people have to carry.
No-road access is the real constraint: forest tracks, river crossings, switchbacks and helicopter sling loads decide the frame size before depth does.
A petrol engine removes the generator; a single-phase electric motor needs a supply at the collar. Most remote programmes end up with a diesel or petrol unit.
Depth ratings are quoted against a rod size. A 200 m rating on 42 mm rods is not a 200 m rating on NQ wireline rods — always ask which.
Depth is quoted for the rod size stated. Weight is the machine without the power unit unless noted.
| Model | Depth | Hole diameter | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| PT-30 | 30 m | 46.5 – 110 mm | 90 kg incl. engine |
| XY-1A | 150 m | 75 – 300 mm | 430 kg |
| XY-200-4 | 200 m | 75 – 300 mm | 600 kg |
| XY-2PC | 150 – 300 m | 46 × 51 mm through-hole | 650 kg |
| GR-200 | 200 m (grouting / anchoring) | 73 – 300 mm | 860 kg incl. power |
Depths are for 42 / 50 mm rods on the XY and GR frames. NQ wireline coring needs a different class of rig — see the mid-depth and deep-hole ranges.
Each one is a different answer to the same question: how do we get a bit into the ground where no truck can go?
PT-30
Two-person sampling rig: 90 kg including the petrol engine, 30 m in 46.5 – 91 mm holes. Strips into frame, head and engine for carrying on foot or by animal.
XY-1A
The classic 150 m skid rig: five spindle speeds, 0 – 360° drilling angle, diesel or 11 kW electric. The cheapest way into coring for a small contractor.
XY-200-4
200 m version of the same frame with a stronger power unit — the most common choice for village water, soil sampling and shallow mineral scout holes.
XY-2PC
300 m vertical machine with a 46 × 51 mm through-hole and reverse rotation for backing out a stuck string. Skid frame, 650 kg without power.
GR-200
200 m grouting and anchor rig, 860 kg, 15 kW electric. Used for dam curtains, slope anchors and consolidation work rather than coring.
Man-portable, modular or skid-mounted: tell us the heaviest piece you can move and the depth you need, and we will say which frame works without overselling the depth.
Tell us how the rig gets to site, the depth, the core size and the ground — we answer with the frame that fits, or say plainly that a portable rig will not do it.
